Brunch season is upon us, and personally I enjoy a good brunching, albeit, Omani style where it is really just a long lunch. The key bit for me is the relaxation where I can just enjoy myself, safe in the knowledge that I definitely don't have to do any dishes at all!
The Grand Hyatt have returned to the scene once again and here are their packages:
Friday brunch (1:30 - 5:30pm - booze from 2pm) at Mokha Cafe with music from a Jazz duo:
Soft drinks: RO 29, House beer, wine & spirits: RO 39 and Champagne (Moet) brunch for RO 55. All prices include taxes, and for a premium branded bubbles like Moet, RO 55 is currently the cheapest brunch in the city that I'm aware of.
Now, two things really worth mentioning about this brunch that I haven't mentioned already are:
1. The kids corner is a great place for the kiddos, and even better because kids under 6 are free, and kids between 6-12 are half price.
2. The cocktails. Yes, I am currently on another cocktail honeymoon - and living in Muscat at the moment I'm spoiled for choice for some really good cocktails. The ones they have at Mokha are really good and definitely worth checking out if you're brunching there.
Now, brunch can be a long session, and isn't always for everyone (and the pricing does reflect that) but those clever sales people at the Grand Hyatt have come up with an alternative solution to Friday brunch.... the after party!
Its held after the brunch, in the John Barry Bar between 5:30pm and 7:30pm and its unlimited selected drinks for RO 15 - which I think is a pretty good deal and is either a nice end to a long brunch, or a good way to kick a night out off. I like to say that those people doing the brunch and the after party are going for the "bang bang".
