This Friday see's the start of the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England, and here in Oman, the games are being shown live on OSN. Now, if you would like to support your country in the tournament, you may want to head out to a bar to watch the game, below is a list of all the bar's that are doing special things for the rugby world cup, be it a special food offering, discounts, prize draws or whatever. I'm sure other bars will be doing things too, but this is the list I've managed to come up with... But lucky me, I'm going to be in the UK for the next two weeks to catch a number of games live :)
1. Habana Sports Bar
This is the home of the Muscat Rugby Club, and this is where the MRFC boys and girls will be going to watch the games. There will be a prize draw every week for patrons of the bar, along with the usual happy hour and a number of special food deals too. If you happen to be in the bar for a game and are not yet a member of the MRFC, you can even sign up with the MRFC stall that will be there throughout the world cup! The best prize on offer is a trip to the Dubai 7s including hotels and tickets and the magic Heineken pass at the 7s (free food and drinks at the event)! This, along with a number of free meals at different restaurants around the hotel makes Habana a great place to watch the rugby world cup.
2. Al Ghazal Pub
The Al Ghazal will be showing every game live on it's big screen and they have a Happy Hour with 20% off every evening between 6pm and 9pm. They are also offering the opportunity to win a trip to the Dubai 7s courtesy of Heineken if you buy 4 pints of the green gold during the game.
3. O'Malley's
O'Malley's have been getting into the swing of things lately by offering prizes every single day for the last few weeks in the build up to the Rugby World Cup. They're really excited for the tournament and are also offering flights, 2 nights accommodation and the Heineken pass to the upcoming Dubai 7s tournament. There will be special offers on each game day as well.
4. Feeny's
I found myself in Feeny's the other weekend for someones birthday, it's been a long time since I was last in there and I was amazed at how busy it was in there - a really great atmosphere. Feeny's will be showing the games live and will be doing food and drink deals! I just hope they have more staff working the bar the next time I go in there! They are also offering a chance to win a trip to Dubai for the 7s courtesy of Heineken. Those Dutchies have been busy!
5. Dukes Bar
Dukes will be showing the games on their big screen, and yes, ANOTHER chance to win a trip to Dubai 7s with Heineken!! They're also giving away every Saturday during the tournament 2 All Blacks rugby jerseys and a dinner voucher for two at their Shiraz restaurant. There's flights to the UK and a home theatre system on offer too!
So now you know the WHERE to watch the rugby world cup, now you can figure out WHEN you want to watch it... here is a list of every game in the world cup with Oman timings:
