I received an email the other day from the Hormuz Grand hotel that's recently opened up behind the Bank Muscat just next to the airport. Starting yesterday, and running for the next 10 days until the 30th April, there is a Biriyani festival taking place. It's called Jashn - E - Biriyani and its Dum Pukht style of cooking. The festival is being held in the Qureshi restauarant and a 3 course set menu including a trio-kebab platter, a biryani served with salan and burrani raita (which can be chosen out of the 12 special different choices available), With 1 special dessert platter to finish. The cost for all of this is 16.3 RO net per person and is available for both lunch and dinner.
Please contact +968-2435 0500 Ext 627 for reservations.
Now, in what has made me smile, the email sent to me didn't mention the second thing in the poster that was attached to the email, which is up above. So after having a waist-expanding Biriyani, you could always pop into the hotel's gym and buy a summer membership... fatty!
Perhaps its my sad sense of humour but I found it amusing. Yes I know I'm sad.
More soon.

Good Indiglish writing on the flyer there- what a surprise!
ReplyDelete16.3++ for a biryani and some grilled meat and you can't have a drink but they charge 1.6 for a small bottle of bza100 water.
Have you seen the pool there? Good luck doing any swimming to get fit in it! Anywhere else in the world and that place would be a 2-star joint at best but because it's a hotel in Muscat it charges 150 for a room and puts 5 stars on the front doors (that you have to open yourself!)
