The Poppy Appeal

Every November, there is a poppy appeal where (in the UK for example) the Royal British Legion sell little paper poppies to fund their activities, which are primarily helping those injured from serving in the armed forces, and remembering those who have lost their lives doing the same. The Canadians do it too, but pretty much not many others.

Now, if you'd like to donate, the British Embassy have done their usual thing, and have arranged for a number of poppy selling spots around town where you can make a donation and get a poppy. These places are:

The British Embassy, The British Council, Medident, British School Muscat & Salalah, ABA school, and also the Womens Guild of Oman (who presumably sell them at their events).

Remembrance Sunday will be marked by a service at the PDO Cemetery at 10.45 on Sunday 9th November. Those who do attend should be present by 10.30 at the latest.
